Flash Flood Susceptibility Assessment Based on Morphometric Aspects and Hydrological Approaches in the Pai River Basin, Mae Hong Son, Thailand

چکیده

Flash floods are water-related disasters that cause damage to properties, buildings, and infrastructures in the flow path. often occur within a short period of time following intense rainfall high, mountainous area northern Thailand. Therefore, purpose this study is generate flash flood susceptibility map using watershed morphometric parameters hydrological approaches. In study, Pai River basin, located Mae Hong Son Thailand, divided into 86 subwatersheds, 23 extracted from digital elevation model (DEM). addition, soil conservation service curve number (SCS-CN) used estimate precipitation excess, Snyder’s synthetic unit hydrograph method peak concentration. With respect dataset, we combined CHIRPS data (as satellite gridded data) with measured for runoff analysis. According analysis results, 25 out subwatersheds classified as highly susceptible areas floods. The similarities representing watersheds flood-susceptible indicate categorization included high relief, relief ratios, ruggedness stream frequencies, texture annual runoff, discharge, low elongation lemniscates ratios.

Changes in malaria vector densities over a twenty-three year period in Mae Hong Son Province, northern Thailand.

Mae Hong Son Province in northwestern Thailand has a long history of malaria. During the last two decades the province has had one of the highest malaria incidences of all provinces in Thailand. Data were analyzed to determine whether the vector populations were stable or increasing during the last two decades and to determine the seasonal prevalence of the main vectors, and whether or not they...

Flood Risk and River Basin Management

The aim of this study is to identify the sources of uncertainty that induce the largest uncertainties in the model outcomes and quantify this uncertainty using expert elicitation. Analysis of expert opinions showed that the Qh-relation and the roughness predictor of the main channel cause the largest uncertainties for design water level computations. For effect studies, the floodplain topograph...

Flood Risk and River Basin Management

Recent scenario studies on water management focus on one or two projection years and the effects on the water system and functions. The future is however more complex and dynamic. Therefore, we analyse transient scenarios in order to evaluate the performance of water management strategies. Current available simulation tools are not suitable for this purpose. Therefore, we have developed and use...
